Social Media Videos - european marketing ahead of U.S.
The European television marketplace has always been riskier than the American counterpart- and that risky element for the past decade has mostly revolved around humor and making us laugh. As a quick example, I went ahead and pulled four European viral videos that have taken off online. The longest one is just over a minute, but all four have a level of humor involved that U.S. viewers rarely see- unless it is online, and all four drive a pretty good message.
When looking to releasing a viral social media video campaign, promoters need to keep in mind what drives a viral trend. Humor, emotion, faith, and family are good “core foundations” for viral application. If you pitch a product as a product, without bringing the human element into the equation it will probably fall flat on your expectations.
Aside from how a video is produced- realize that all four of these videos used YouTube as yet another FREE syndication channel. All four videos are also on other video syndication networks, but on YouTube alone the videos had an extra 10k to 60k of viewers. That is an extra 10k to 60k of air time viewers who are choosing to watch nothing but the video. How much would the typical marketer pay to have 50k people choose to watch a video?
All four of these examples take a lighter “spin” on what they are promoting, understanding that the essence of what they are communicating is a human experience. After you have a chance to watch them, take a moment a let me know what your feelings are towards how they leverage the social side of the media.
All four videos should play below in order-
