123 Weekly Training Introduction

feature photo

Once a week, every week, 123 Social Media will be publishing a primary article covering steps to developing a social media strategy and steps to implement it. Each article will be in plain English, avoiding as many “techno babble” and “geek speak” phrases as possible.

All of the content will be sorted and tagged under “Weekly Learning” in case you miss something or feel like a refresher course on the basics. We encourage you to ask questions!

The basic course description: The online world is evolving. Innovation is happening. Tried and tested business tools such as fax machines and mail are being replaced by online equivalents that benefit from a larger economy of scale. Keeping up with the shifting technology and social trend is becoming increasingly harder, with many useful tools finding niche homes in specific industries and never seeing the light of day in others.

This series of articles (or course) is designed to help broaden your knowledge of such tools, and help you with adopting a mindset of insight, ingenuity, and innovation regarding how you use these tools in your business life. It will cover a wide range of “Web 2.0″ and “Web 3.0″ technologies including blogs, RSS (really simple syndication), wikis, photo sharing tools, geo-mapping tools, web gadgets, instant messaging, video syndication, video conferencing, screencasts, online communities, social networking, branding, advertising, search engines, and on-going discussion on emerging technology.

Some of that discussion will be on broad strategy such as if the web can destroy your business, how to competitively use social media, or learning from your competitors techniques. Some of the conversation will be tactical questions you should be asking, ways to enhance blogging platforms, or steps you can take to protect your reputation.

No question will be considered “too basic” or “too advanced”, and we’ll do our best to answer each and every one of them or point you to the information you are looking for.
